鳴門市企業局は、ボートレース鳴門(同市撫養町大桑島)にスポーツパーク「UZU PARK（ウズパーク）」を2018年11月に開設。「UZU PARK（ウズパーク）」は、鳴門の海の海流や渦潮を表現した「日本で一番美しいスケートボードパーク」を核に、鳴門からオリンピックの選手を世界へ輩出するニュースポーツ推進の中心的な役割を担う。核となるスケートパークはオールコンクリートで、西日本最大級の広さを誇る。また、セクションの設計はスケートボードカンパニー「EVISEN SKATEBOARDS」に所属するプロスケーターが監修。スケートボード、バスケットボール、自転車ロードレースは、2020年の東京オリンピックの正式種目に採用されており、鳴門市はスポーツで交流人口を増やすとともに、将来オリンピックの舞台やプロ等で活躍する選手を送り出す事を目標としている。
In November 2018, the Naruto Business Administration is opening the UZU PARK sports facility in Boat Race Naruto (Naruto City Muyacho-okuwajima). Symbolizing the ocean currents and whirlpools of Naruto, UZU PARK features Japan’s most beautiful skateboard park at its core and will play a central role in promoting new sports to produce Olympic athletes from Naruto. With an all concrete skate park, the overall park covers the largest area in West Japan. Also, the design of park sections was supervised by the professional skaters of the skateboard company, EVISEN Skateboards. Skateboarding, basketball and bicycle road racing are official events of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Naruto City will expand its non-resident population through sports as it focuses on introducing future professional athletes.
Incorporated company B2ENGINE is in charge of UZUPA’s planning and general production as well as landscape design. (http://b2engine.co.jp/) UZUPARK consists of an area measuring approximately 4,510 square meters which is not partitioned by fence, but by a lawn that represents the flow of Naruto’s tidal whirlpools. The main circular section with the UZUPA logo and the circular lawn bench form a pair of whorls where people can gather. Access between facilities is easy as there are no clear partitions between the Cycle Station, Basketball Court and Skate Park. What’s more, with a design that prioritizes scenic beauty, the park is an ideal place for anyone.
